Still looking for a job?

Thursday, April 27, 2006

If you're graduating this May and still haven't landed a job, never fear! This Tuesday, Wall Street Journal columnist Erin White advises: "Grads, Take Note: Jobs Are Out There."

I joined Erin in telling new grads not to panic if they are still jobless. Below you'll find an excerpt from the article:
---
Brad Karsh, president of JobBound, a Chicago career-counseling service, reminds students to be flexible. Consider working for a smaller company than planned, or in a different city, or for less money, he says. If a student's budget allows, low-paid internships or temporary work can be good gateways to permanent posts. Don't obsess about finding the "perfect" job, Mr. Karsh says. "Your first job is just that -- your first job," he says. "It's not your entire career. It's not a lifetime commitment."
