Every company has problems. Or rather, they have "challenges" that they need to overcome. Make things more efficient. Tighten the budget. Fix a process. Improve customer satisfaction.
When you interview with a Recruiting Director, you will have an opportunity to ask them questions at the end of the interview. As I've mentioned before, it's critical that you ask good questions. A recent article by CubeRules.com says to consider asking these questions:
"What is the biggest challenge your team overcame last year?"
"What is the biggest challenge your team is facing right now?" (and if it is the same one as last year...run!)
"What is the biggest challenge your team will face in the next six months?"
You also need to cater your interview answers to prove you have the ability to solve problems. Throughout the conversation, try to bring up a time you recognized a problem. Explain to them how you developed the plan to fix the problem, and how you executed it. Use specific examples, and give details about what you took from the situation. What did you learn, and how can it be applied to a new job?
The Recruiting Director will realize you take initiative and always consider what is best for the company. These are traits that virtually anyone wants in a new hire.
